“Hampton is surrounded by several bodies of water, so water safety is a critical life skill, especially in our area,” said Kellie Goral, executive director of public relations and marketing for the district. “So the main goal is that as many students as possible have those water safety skills that are necessary to be safe in the water.”

USA Artistic Swimming has announced that the 2022 Junior Olympic Championships will be held in Gainesville, Florida, with the 2023 event going to Hampton, Virginia. The Junior Olympic Championship averages about 1,100 athletes competing across a nine-day schedule. The Junior Olympic Championships is the largest event organized by the national governing body.
