facility Rules

All persons entering the facility must pay appropriate fees. Entry fees to the indoor facility is separate from the Splashdown Park. All Day Pass sales are final – No refunds.

All persons under the age of 8 must have a guardian (18+ years) in the water with them at all times.

All persons under the age of 16 must have a guardian (18+ years) present on the pool deck or in the water.

All persons must wear appropriate swimming attire, acceptable to the standards of the community. Individuals are not permitted to swim in their undergarments. No rivets, zippers, or buttons are permitted on swimming attire. No cotton t-shirts, “cut-offs”, jeans, or pants of any kind.

Any child who is not fully potty trained must wear a swim diaper in the pool. Normal diapers and ‘pullups’ are not permitted.

Running, ‘horse play’, or any unsafe behaviors are prohibited.

Persons with skin disease, open wounds, nasal or ear discharge, inflamed eyes, diarrhea, or any communicable disease are not allowed in the pool.

No pets of any kind, except dogs assisting individuals with disabilities, are permitted inside the enclosed area. Pets are not permitted in swimming pools.

The following items represent a potential threat to pool safety and are prohibited at all swimming pools:

- Glass containers and breakable objects

- Chewing gum, food and drink, except items provided and consumed at Hampton VA Aquaplex concessions. Food must be consumed off pool deck.

- Rubber balls, Frisbees, and water guns

- Water wings, swim sweaters with inner tubes, or inflatable infant rafts

- Inflatable tubes or rafts

Lifeguards and Hampton VA Aquaplex staff are permitted at any time to stop any behaviors they deem inappropriate or unsafe.

The Hampton Virginia Aquaplex is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Lockers are available for use both inside and at the Splashdown Park. Locks are not provided.

Children over the age of 5 years are not permitted in locker rooms of the opposite sex. Family changing rooms are available for use.

During scheduled swim and dive meets locker rooms are closed to the public for use. 

Use of Personal Flotation Devices

Only United States Coast Guard approved personal flotation “jackets” and “puddle jumpers” are permitted at the Hampton VA Aquaplex and Splashdown Park.

Children using personal flotation devices require direct one-on-one adult supervision.

Flotation jackets are permitted only in the designated shallow areas.

Inflatable tubes and rafts are not permitted as swimming aids.

The Hampton Virginia Aquaplex and Splashdown Park has US Coast Guard approved lifejackets available to use on a first come, first served basis.

Competition Pool Rules

Any persons under the age of 18 must complete a swim test conducted by a lifeguard to swim in the competition pool. Swim tests consist of the following tasks:

- Swim 25 yards continuously, either front crawl or breast stroke

- Tread water for 1 minute

No life jackets or floatation devices are permitted in the Competition Pool.

To use 1 – Meter diving board individuals much check in with Lifeguard staff prior to use.

Use of 3 – Meter high dives not permitted. High dives may only be used during a scheduled diving practice or event.

Use of starting blocks is not permitted. Starting blocks may only be used during a scheduled practice.

Program Pool Rules

No diving in the program pool.

Sitting on the blue dividing wall is prohibited.

Do not hang off ramp, stair, and ladder railings.

Hot Tub Rules

Children under the age of 6 are not permitted in the hot tub.

Max capacity for hot tub is 7 individuals.

No life jackets or floatation devices are permitted in the hot tub.

Horseplay is prohibited.

Splash Park Rules

No hanging or dunking from basketball hoops.

Diving or flips are prohibited in any area.

Jumping over benches and off ledges is not permitted.

Slides on the play structure must be ridden one at a time. All persons are to ride slides feet first, sitting on their bottoms. Climbing of slide is strictly prohibited.

It is prohibited to sit or stand on the center “island” in the Lazy River

Pool noodles, balls, frisbees, inflatable tubes/rafts, fins, kickboards and water guns are prohibited.

Running, ‘horse play’, or any unsafe behaviors are prohibited.

Slide Rules

All persons riding the two large slides in the Splashdown Park must be at least forty-eight (48”) inches or taller to ride.

Slides are not to be used by individuals weighing over three-hundred (300) pounds.

Only one person is permitted to ride down a single slide at a time.

Lifejackets, goggles, and any loose items are prohibited down the slide.

All persons are to wait until instructed by staff to ride down the slide.

Users must slide in a position of feet first while lying on backs with arms crossed over chests and legs crossed at the ankles.

Standing, sitting, kneeling, rotating, tumbling, stalling and stopping are strictly prohibited while riding the waterslide flume.

Standing or sitting in the slide flume exit point is prohibited.
